I am Jody Dyes, a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor and registered hypnotherapist working privately from The Practice Rooms in Clifton and Westbury-on-Trym, Bristol, as well as online.
I offer counselling, therapy and hypnotherapy for adults who want to explore life experiences, understand recurring patterns of behaviour, process difficult feelings and work towards positive and meaningful change.
My work is based on a warm, collaborative and individual approach. I believe there is no “one-size-fits-all” way to experience therapy. Instead, we will work together to find what feels most helpful to you as an individual.
My approach
My approach as a psychotherapeutic counsellor is pluralistic, which means we can draw on a range of psychotherapeutic approaches to tailor our work to suit your individual needs, preferences and goals.
At the heart of my practice is the therapeutic relationship. I offer a warm, non-judgemental space where you can feel heard, accepted and understood. I firmly believe that when we are met with genuine empathy, honesty and unconditional positive regard, meaningful change becomes possible.
I work from a trauma-informed perspective, moving at your pace and supporting you to explore patterns of thoughts and behaviours, make sense of your lived experiences and reconnect with your authentic self. Working together in this way, you can gently navigate challenges, build self-awareness and find ways forward that feel right for you.
Counselling, therapy and hypnotherapy
My work brings together psychotherapeutic counselling, hypnotherapy and a compassionate interest in how people think, feel, behave and relate to themselves and others.
I am a certified and registered Bristol hypnotherapist with the National Hypnotherapy Society, Dip Hyp CS, holding qualifications in both solution focused and advanced analytical and regression hypnotherapy. I am also a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor and a member of the accredited National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society register.
Through hypnotherapy, I can work with solution focused approaches, creative hypnotherapy and hypnoanalysis. Through counselling and psychotherapy, we can explore your experiences, relationships, emotions and patterns at a pace that feels safe and manageable.
I fundamentally treat everybody wanting to engage in therapy as an individual, tailoring the work to your specific needs. This is very much a collaborative relationship, and one in which we can forge a meaningful and productive therapeutic alliance.
Working with me
I like patiently and compassionately working in collaboration with people to explore what may at times feel confusing, difficult or hard to shift. This might include anxiety, low mood, stress, self-esteem, grief, habits, relationships, addiction-related issues or patterns that feel rooted in past experiences.
I firmly believe that every unique individual has the inherent ability to strive towards accomplishing goals, overcome life’s hurdles and create meaningful change.
If you are interested in finding out whether counselling, therapy or hypnotherapy may be helpful for you, I very much look forward to hearing from you.
My experience includes working with adults in private practice and addiction counselling, supporting people with anxiety, low mood, stress, self-esteem, grief, habits, relationship difficulties, addiction-related issues and patterns connected to past experiences.
